It was so nice to have such a fun and relaxing family day for the fourth of July this year. We were home all day until the late afternoon when we went to my sister's house to swim and have dinner. Mimi and Papa and Gigi were there too! It was nice to spend time with all of them. The kids had such a good time with eachother too. The boys did not fight once! Keira had her first time in the pool and absolutely loved it! She wanted to get all the way in and put her face in the water. It was pretty cute. Kaden got to practice swimming around, though he missed out on lessons this year. He is still a little bit afraid to try new things in the water that don't include Mommy or Daddy. The fourth is also my Grandpa George's birthday. It has been a long time since he has been gone and I know our entire family misses him very much. He was such a special person and I am really sad that Matt and our kids never got the chance to meet him and experience his fun loving personality. My Grandma took a minute to share a little bit about him with the boys and tell them that the fourth of July is his birthday. I don't know that they understood, but it was cute nonetheless.

The neatest surprise came when we got home. Copper River was doing fireworks and we could see them perfectly from the car off our street. We parked and watched them for a few minutes and then came home to discover that we had our very own firework show right in our backyard! Our neighbors had a block party that started in the evening after we had already left, so even though it was late, we walked over for a minute to say hi. It was great to meet some of our new neighbors and was a great way to end to a great day!
